This workshop seeks to create a collective re-imagining of sex as a biological, legal, political, economic and cultural category. We want to catalyze creative thinking about the ways that sex is multiple (more than just MALE or FEMALE) and the ways that sex is performative, embodied, durational, contextual and contingent. We want people to use the resulting images and texts to experiment with tiny ways and tiny actions to think outside the gender box.

Red Dawns will host the workshop in the name of its initiators (experimental film-maker, performance artist and writer Jaimes Mayhew and artist, researcher and digital media lecturer kanarinka from U.S.A.) - with their approval, guidance and “virtual presence” through a Powerpoint presentation. The workshop will be guided by Anna Ehrlemark.

Teatteri Tunteenpalo Workshop - PEEPING

Paper theatre puppeteer Katja Kähkönen will host at Red Dawns festival with her performance Dark Paradise. She will also lead a workshop based on the technique of classic peep-show box. The participants will create their own peep-boxes, a multidimensional adventure through the world of auto-sexuality and voyeurism. Katja explains:

The peep show box deals with the idea of a limited view. When we can not see everything we tend to make our own conclusions and explanations to fill up the gaps. We have the urge to make the vision clearer; we make an effort to see. Peeping is slightly forbidden. Peeping is about searching for secrets in secrecy. It is also about looking into a strange and unreachable world. When peeping we are conscious of the body being in one and the sight in another space. It is a dreamlike experience. For this reason there is a surrealistic touch in the project; peeping is about being at the border of dreams and the physical world. The limited view creates illusions and the illusions play with our desires and weaknesses.

It sounds almost out-of-wordly, but includes a lot of cutting, gluing, drawing and building. Create your own secret space, fill it with your desires and dreams, and open a tiny gate through which it can be gazed at in privacy.

Workshop for girls, women and transgender peopleREPAIR YOUR BICYCLE

Friday, March 9th at 14.00, Menza pri koritu

Do you know how to fix a hole in the tire? How to adjust your brakes? How to change bearings? In this workshop, we want you to learn at least part of the important basics in bicycle repairing. And hopefully after the workshop you will be able to learn the rest by yourself...

What we will do exactly during the workshop will depend on what the participants want to learn, what they already know, but also on what kind of bikes, spare-parts and tools are brought. We will have some stuff there, but the best is if you just bring your bike (also if it's not broken) and, if you have, also tools and spare-parts.

We will also try to prepare a list of important tools in English and Slovene.
